Getting to Oil Nut Bay is a unique experience and an enjoyable part of your vacation in itself. Wherever you may be coming from, there are several options from which to choose. On the Eastern tip of Virgin Gorda, Oil Nut Bay is accessible only by boat or helicopter. No matter how you get to Oil Nut Bay, traveling by air or sea through the local islands provides a fantastic way to appreciate the beauty of the region.

FROM north america.

Terrance B. Lettsome, Beef Island, Tortola (EIS)

Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport:

If you’re coming from North America, you can get to the BVI with connections in San Juan (SJU), St Thomas (STT), St Maarten (SXM),St Kitts (SKB), or Antigua (ANU), and then take a local airline carrier to Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport (EIS) on Tortola. Once in Tortola, these are your options for getting to Oil Nut Bay:

  • Upon arrival to EIS, a taxi representative will greet and usher you to Trellis Bay ferry dock (2-minute taxi). From there, it is a 35-minute ferry to ONB. This taxi and ferry transfer to Oil Nut Bay is $500.00 for groups up to 4 passengers, $600.00 for groups with 5-8 passengers, and $700 for groups with over 8 passengers.
  • Cape Air, Liat, Intercaribbean, and Seaborne Airlines are the most commonly used airlines.
  • A helicopter can also be taken from Beef Island to the Oil Nut Bay helipad with Caribbean Buzz (rates start at $5,000per way for a 8-seater helicopter).

If you’re coming from North America, you can get to the BVI with connectioned in either San Juan (SJU) or St Thomas (STT), and then take a local airline carrier to Virgin Gorda (VIJ). Once you arrive into Virgin Gorda, these are your options for getting to Oil Nut Bay:

 

  • Upon arrival to VIJ, a taxi representative will greet and usher you to the Gun Creek ferry dock (20-minute taxi,starting at $30 per way). From there, it is a 10 minute ferry to ONB ($20 per guest per way).
  • Cape Air is the most commonly used airline
Ceril E. King, St. Thomas, USVI (STT)

Cyril E. King Airport:

If you are coming from North America, you can get to the BVI by connecting through the Cyril E. King International Airport in St. Thomas (STT). From St. Thomas, there are several ways to get to the BVI:

 

  • Helicopter from St Thomas to the Oil Nut Bay helipad with Caribbean Buzz Helicopters (rates start at $5,000 perway for a 8-seater helicopter).
  • Private Boat Charter from St Thomas to ONB (rates start at $2,200 per way)
  • Chartered Plane from St. Thomas (or other destinations) to VIJ or EIS. Fly BVI or VI Airlink are the recommended airlines.
Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU)

Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport:

If you are coming from North America, you can get to the BVI by connecting through the Luis Munoz Marin International Airport in Puerto Rico (SJU). From Puerto Rico, you can charter a helicopter directly to Oil Nut Bay.

Virgin Gorda Airport:

If you’re coming from Europe, you can get to the BVI by connecting through San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU), and then take a local airline carrier to Virgin Gorda (VIJ). Once you arrive into Virgin Gorda, these are your options for getting to Oil Nut Bay:

  • Upon arrival to VIJ, a taxi representative will greet and usher you to the Gun Creek ferry dock (20 minute taxi). From there, it is a 15 minute ferry to ONB. Prices vary based on number of guests.
  • You can charter a helicopter to fly you directly to Oil Nut Bay (approximately 5 minute flight).

Cyril E. King Airport:

  • There are limited flight options from Europe through St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands.

Terrance B Lettsome International Airport

If you’re flying in on a private plane, you can land directly at Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport on Tortola, British Virgin Islands or Cyril E. King International Airport on St. Thomas, USVI.

Once on Tortola, here’s how you can get to the Oil Nut Bay:

  • Our Guest Services Team will arrange a taxi pick up from the airport to take you to The Loose Mongoose Dock at Beef Island (10 minutes)
  • A private boat transfer will be scheduled to pick you up from The Loose Mongoose Dock at Beef Island to take you to Oil Nut Bay (45 minutes)”

Cyril E. King Airport PT:

If you’re flying in on a private plane, you can land directly at Cyril E. King International Airport in St. Thomas.

Airport Characteristics:

• Elevation: 23 feet (7 meters)
• Time Zone: UTC -4
• Max Runway: 7,000 × 150 feet (2,134 × 46 meters)
• Surface: Asphalt

Once in St. Thomas, here’s how you can get to the BVI:

  • You can charter a private plane from St. Thomas to either Tortola or Virgin Gorda, where we can then arrange private boat transfers to Oil Nut Bay.
  • You can charter a helicopter to fly you directly to Oil Nut Bay (approximately 15 minute flight).
